The Homer, AK owl banding project is a small-scale effort to study migration and abundance of small owls in the Kachemak Bay area (southern Kenai Peninsula). The project started in 2009 and is now entering its fifth year.<\/p>\n
Two species are trapped and banded: Northern Saw-whet Owls (NSWO) and Boreal Owls (BOOW). This banding takes place during the fall migration, starting in mid August and ending in late October.<\/p>\n
