{"id":183,"date":"2014-10-23T08:22:28","date_gmt":"2014-10-23T08:22:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/owls.taiga.com\/?p=183"},"modified":"2014-10-23T08:22:28","modified_gmt":"2014-10-23T08:22:28","slug":"first-snow","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/owls.taiga.com\/?p=183","title":{"rendered":"First snow"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We had the first snow that stuck a few days ago- there&#8217;s still about half an inch covering the net lanes. \u00a0Weather (and a dead audio lure battery) limited banding for the last several days.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Oct 22: 4 Northern Saw-whets banded. \u00a0There were several very vocal owls responding to the lure through the night again; it seems that they are more vocal this year than during previous seasons.<\/li>\n<li>Oct 21: No owls banded. \u00a0Opened nets for two hours before the lure battery died (this happens when I forget to charge it for a couple of weeks). \u00a0The nets were frozen solid during closing.<\/li>\n<li>Oct 20: No owls banded. \u00a0Opened for a little while but the snow picked up and was sticking to the nets, making them quite visible.<\/li>\n<li>Oct 19: Three Northern Saw-whets banded.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We had the first snow that stuck a few days ago- there&#8217;s still about half an inch covering the net lanes. \u00a0Weather (and a dead audio lure battery) limited banding for the last several days.
