{"id":636,"date":"2021-09-07T17:00:13","date_gmt":"2021-09-07T17:00:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/owls.taiga.com\/?p=636"},"modified":"2021-09-07T17:01:15","modified_gmt":"2021-09-07T17:01:15","slug":"slow-start-to-2021-banding-season","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/owls.taiga.com\/?p=636","title":{"rendered":"Slow start to 2021 banding season"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The 2021 owl banding season here in Homer, Alaska is off to a very slow start.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nets have been open (weather permitting) since Aug 20, but before last night, only a single owl had been caught- a returning 2nd year Northern Saw-whet Owl that was originally banded here 366 days earlier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Last night, three owls showed up- all Northern Saw-whet adults.
