Project Description

The Homer, AK owl banding project is a small-scale effort to study migration and abundance of small owls in the Kachemak Bay area (southern Kenai Peninsula). The project started in 2009 and is now entering its fifth year.

Two species are trapped and banded: Northern Saw-whet Owls (NSWO) and Boreal Owls (BOOW). This banding takes place during the fall migration, starting in mid August and ending in late October.

More project details will be posted here soon.
